As I left my small apartment near the station’s West Exit, I would go through the big underpass, head over to “CAMP” to open the gallery and work as the gallery keeper with countless cups of thin, watery coffee until early evening.Around the time the date changed, my shady part-time job at the basement of the Hanazono Shrine would end. “Dans les années 80, pendant mes 20 ans, Shinjuku était tout pour moi. En quittant mon petit appartement près de la sortie ouest de la gare, je traversais le grand passage souterrain, je me rendais au «CAMP» pour ouvrir la galerie et je travaillais comme galeriste avec d’innombrables tasses de café fin et aqueux jusqu’en début de soirée. Lorsque la date changeait, mon travail louche à temps partiel au sous-sol du sanctuaire Hanazono prendrait fin. Ensuite, je me dirigerais vers la ville dorée.” – Koji Onaka
