Je ne crois pas une photo parce que tout ce qu’elle contient est un mensonge. La seule chose que je crois, c’est qu’il existe une certaine « vérité » entre le sujet et le photographe (ou la personne qui a installé l’appareil photo). Différente de l’intimité des aiguilles et des pinceaux qui me sont proches, la « vérité » est comme la force de la solitude qui éloigne deux corps l’un de l’autre pour qu’ils ne puissent pas en devenir un, peu importe à quel point ils s’embrassent. Alors, qu’est-ce que c’est que cette « vérité »? Un film photographique est développé, et l’image est imprimée ou stockée sous forme de données numériques. Il me semble qu’il y a une raison pour chaque aspect du processus – la caméra, le temps, le traitement et parfois la nécessité d’impliquer d’autres personnes. I don’t believe a photograph because everything in it is a lie. The only thing that I believe is that there exists a certain “truth” between the subject and the photographer (or the person who set up the camera). Different from the intimacy of the needles and brushes that are close to me, the ”truth” is like the force of solitude that pushes two bodies away from each other so they can’t become one, no matter how hard they embrace each other. So what exactly is that “truth”? A photographic film is developed, and the picture is printed or stored as digital data. It appears to me that there is a reason for every aspect of the process – the camera, time, processing, and sometimes the necessity to involve other people.
