Since wearing masks has now become an ordinary routine, those wearing black masks appear to me as stylish people who are fashionably coordinating their masks with their clothing. It is incredible how much our habit of wearing masks has changed perceptions. To me now, people wearing masks look as beautiful as never before because their eyes seem to shine all the more brightly, and with a strong willingness. While it is also true that some people put on make-up only around the eyes, they strive to express their feelings just with their eyes. As the saying \"the apple of one's eyes\" implies, such eyes are captivating. There are people who feel more comfortable wearing masks as well. Among them, many ones want to wear masks even after the pandemic subsides. In Western countries, a dominant opinion is that people want to take off masks as soon as possible because it is hard to read the feelings of others. This certainly makes sense because quite a few people in Japan, too, worry about the relationship between young children and their carers screened by masks. Nonetheless, a face mask is an important item to save human beings from the Covid disaster. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e      While many photographs included in this book were taken in Tokyo, there are some photographed in other places such as Fukuoka and Fukushima, and so I should have titled the book \"Japanese Eyes.\" However, I dared to title it Tokyo Eyes. Apples of eyes, love, and cues from Japan to the world. What do we have to learn from now on and what will save human beings?\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e-----\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eJusqu'à il y a quelques années, avant la pandémie de Covid-19, je me serais instantanément éloigné des personnes marchant vers moi portant des masques noirs parce que je pensais qu'elles avaient l'air suspectes. Depuis que le port de masques est devenu une routine ordinaire, ceux qui portent des masques noirs m'apparaissent comme des personnes stylées qui coordonnent à la mode leurs masques avec leurs vêtements. C'est incroyable à quel point notre habitude de porter des masques a changé les perceptions. Pour moi maintenant, les personnes portant des masques sont plus belles que jamais parce que leurs yeux semblent briller d'autant plus fort et avec une forte volonté. S'il est également vrai que certaines personnes ne se maquillent qu'autour des yeux, elles s'efforcent d'exprimer leurs sentiments uniquement avec leurs yeux. Comme le dit le dicton \"la prunelle de ses yeux\", de tels yeux sont captivants. Il y a aussi des gens qui se sentent plus à l'aise avec des masques. Parmi eux, beaucoup veulent porter des masques même après la fin de la pandémie. Dans les pays occidentaux, une opinion dominante est que les gens veulent enlever les masques le plus tôt possible car il est difficile de lire les sentiments des autres. Cela a certainement du sens car bon nombre de personnes au Japon s'inquiètent également de la relation entre les jeunes enfants et leurs soignants dépistés par des masques. Néanmoins, un masque facial est un élément important pour sauver les êtres humains de la catastrophe de Covid.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eAlors que de nombreuses photographies incluses dans ce livre ont été prises à Tokyo, certaines ont été photographiées dans d'autres endroits tels que Fukuoka et Fukushima, et j'aurais donc dû intituler le livre \"Japanese Eyes\". That’s punk » at the gallery \u0026amp;co 119 from May 16 (opening) to July 8 2017\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eBorn in 1950, Herbie Yamaguchi suffered from spinal caries and spent most of his childhood in corset, which fortunately led him to the photo club in school where he found his lifetime passion. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics before he left home for London in 1973, where he stayed for the next decade. In London, he joined the musical company “Red Buddha” led by Tsutomu Yamashita and performed on stage as an actor for a while. Soon he started to capture the days with his camera and kept a lively record of the development subculture movements, especially the punk scene in the 70’s London as he was inspired by his own experiences. Among his early works, his photographs of punk rock musicians such as Joe Strummer (The Clash) received high recognition. Once returned home to Tokyo, he kept visiting Europe to photograph hundreds of people, from artists to everyday people, which eventually became his precious collections of monochrome. His style is well-known for its delicacy and naturalness. Today he is one of the most celebrated photographers who have fans and admirers all over the world. His enthusiasm is not limited to photo collections and exhibitions: he also writes for magazines and appears on TV and radio.
