Photographer Hitomi Watanabe’s collection of photos taken from years 1967-1969 is portraying the busy life of Shinjuku, an area located in Tokyo. Shinjuku was special during those years for its underground and avant-garde culture, also being the place where students organised the Anti-War day the 21st of October. In the collection there are photos from performance arts in the streets to the activism and riots, reflecting the reality of the time.
