Eight years after his last travel photobook “Short Trip Again”, Koji Onaka again wandered through Japan’s hinterland, observing it through a 35mm lens.
Shot over a period of seven years, “Have a Break” features scenes taken in Hokkaido in the north, Kyushu in the south and many different stations in-between. Onaka’s fondness of a particular, unique style of color adds to the sentimental, deep sense of familiarity and warmth in his images, in which Onaka transforms everyday sights in small towns and rural regions into curious visual wonders.“

Huit ans après son dernier livre de photos de voyage "Short Trip Again", Koji Onaka s'est à nouveau promené dans l'arrière-pays japonais, l'observant à travers un objectif 35 mm.
Réalisé sur une période de sept ans, "Have a Break" présente des scènes prises à Hokkaido au nord, à Kyushu au sud et dans de nombreuses stations intermédiaires. La prédilection d'Onaka pour un style de couleur particulier et unique ajoute au sentiment profond de familiarité et de chaleur de ses images, dans lesquelles Onaka transforme les sites quotidiens des petites villes et des régions rurales en de curieuses merveilles visuelles.
