“Everything that has existed in life tends to recreate itself.”
"Borderland" represents an intimate search in a familiar place where I grew up since my earliest years. I took refuge in my grandparents' house and felt a strong love coming from them, from nature and all the living creatures of the earth, from those silent hills where I felt free to express myself. For me, everything is limited in this rural village in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, and it is this dimension of the indefinite that drives me to tirelessly search for traces of a time that I have not lived enough or that I have lived too much.
My past mingles with my present and suggests my future steps. I don't know whether to listen to it or let myself be carried by the fresh wind, the same one that accompanied my grandfather and me in our conversations about existentialism during warm summer nights, marveling at the beauty of the constellation, lying on the slope of a damp meadow.
Everything around me wants to get closer to me, as it did then, thinking back to the legacy of a relationship created over time: with this aim, a process of interpreting reality begins without any intention of celebration, symbolism, or documentary. Rather, it is an evolution aimed at a profound redemption of my past and present being, producing at the same time an emotional tension that, as if at an extreme, oscillates between joy and pain.
In this research, which aims to establish a reality and a dream, I try to trace over time the fragments of an existence concerning family, growth and belonging.
