After the tsunami destroyed his hometown, Naoya Hatakeyama decided to return and assess the damage caused by the disaster. On the journey to Rikuzentakata, he wrote a diary entry, which was later transcribed in "Kesengawa." His texts accompanied the images taken before and after the disaster. The panorama of this town on Japan's northeast coast radically changed, from peaceful nature to a destroyed cluster of homes.
