"Zeche Westfahlen I/II Ahlen" is a photographic book named after a former factory in the German town of Alhen, which was destroyed in June 2000. Naoya Hatakeyama was commissioned by REGIONAL 2004 to photograph the end of 100 years of mining history. The book offers images of the industrial landscape of Alhen, which appears devoid of any human presence, except for this immense iron construction, which also eventually disappears.
