The title “ Träumerei ” refers to a piano composition by Robert Schumann and means “dream” or “daydreaming.” As these words suggest, the six works presented here are characterized by a dreamy blend of travel memories and intimacy. While these images were taken around the world (Japan, India, Spain), the movement they provoke in their viewer is above all internal: the strangely harmonious diptych association of the tenderness of the nudes and the brutality of the city immerses us in the universe that Sakiko Nomura has woven since the beginning of her career and that this portfolio presents with delicacy.

Printed by Benrido in Kyoto, one of the last workshops in the world practicing the 19th-century French technique called “collotype,” each image in Träumerei has incredibly deep and soft tones, blending skillfully with the dreamy quality of Sakiko Nomura’s photographs.
