“Fata Morgana is the name of a complex mirage that distorts objects and then fades very quickly. Fata Morgana is visible from my region in the southern part of Italy, Salento, and it gives the illusion to see Albanian mountains from the Adriatic Sea: but to me it represents a powerful metaphor of contemporary geopolitical situation.
Salento, like all of Europe, has recently become a place of wonder and hope for people who are fleeing from Africa or Middle East: but the pictures published by the newspapers often reduce migrants lives to few and common stereotypes or to a transitory moment of their existence.
This project is a storytelling in between reality and fiction in which the spectator is invited to recreate his own story, fill up the gaps and give to the characters of the book the possibility to double themselves and transform in someone else. «Fata Morgana est le nom d'un mirage complexe qui déforme les objets puis s'estompe très rapidement. Fata Morgana est visible de ma région dans le sud de l'Italie, Salento, et cela donne l'illusion de voir les montagnes albanaises de la mer Adriatique: mais pour moi, cela représente une métaphore puissante de la situation géopolitique contemporaine.
Le Salento, comme toute l'Europe, est récemment devenu un lieu d'émerveillement et d'espoir pour les personnes qui fuient l'Afrique ou le Moyen-Orient: mais les images publiées par les journaux réduisent souvent la vie des migrants à quelques stéréotypes communs ou à un moment transitoire de leur existence.
Ce projet est une narration entre réalité et fiction dans laquelle le spectateur est invité à recréer sa propre histoire, combler les lacunes et donner aux personnages du livre la possibilité de se doubler et de se transformer en quelqu'un d'autre.
