Lancement - Atlantis

Launch - Atlantis

Saturday, October 18
5-6pm

On Saturday, October 18th, we are pleased to welcome French artist Oriane Thomasson for the launch of her book Atlantis , recently published by Eriskay Connection.

This second book follows the now out-of-print Paradis , which won one of the Best Dutch Book Designs 2022 and was shortlisted for the Prix du livre d'auteur des Rencontres d'Arles in the same year.

Revisiting the design of the first volume with its four different papers, Atlantis is a photographic fiction of the legend of Atlantis, its narrative navigating between archival images and photographs taken by the artist. Accompanied by a science fiction short story, this project reveals how evidence and invention together shape the writing of history. A series that resonates with our Invisible Seas exhibition, and will resonate equally with lovers of original and evocative editions.

Oriane Thomasson is a French artist whose work blends analog and digital images, archival documents, drawings, and texts. Committed to the materiality of images and their modes of transmission, she creates complex narratives at the intersection of documentation and imagination. Thomasson studied at ERG and was awarded the Roger de Conynck Prize in 2019.
