Denis Dailleux is famous for the unique and passionate portrait of Egypt that he has been developing for over fifteen years. In search of new creative spaces, he has also been regularly visiting Ghana since 2009. The fishermen of the port of James Town, a former district of Accra, the capital, have become one of his favorite subjects. He finds within this community a source of powerful images: seascapes with changing skies, fishermen's ballets, the lives of women and children who work in the port... There he explores new relationships to the body and space, to life and death, to religion, to the sea, which renew his photography. The serenity, the pictorial evidence of his images re-enchant a world and territories that are today threatened and are, as such, all the more precious.
"Nyamo is a young fisherman. When he is not at sea ensuring his survival, he plays football with his friends. He has the allure and elegance of a prince and each time I greet him to say goodbye, he looks at me from the height of his six feet and, like a monarch addressing his subjects, says to me "We shall meet again"." publisher's text
