The photographer Masato Sudo has always been fascinated by the Japanese traditional tattoo culture, Irezumi , which has obtained its status as a tabu until this day in Japan. For his collection RANSHO - The world of Horiyoshi III, he has collaborated with an Irezumi tattooist and his clients, celebrating the traditional tattoo designs and landscapes. The photographs reflect the most traditional tattoos as well as the contemporary approaches, shot amongst nature. In Japan Irezumi is being followed by a criminal stigma even if in the rest of the world ornamenting your body has become more and more popular. The works of body art showcased in the book are an introduction to today's tattoo culture in Japan.

For his book RANSHO - The World of Horiyoshi III , he collaborated with the famous tattoo artist Horiyoshi III and his clients. He stages tattooed bodies in the Japanese landscape. The photos highlight the most traditional tattoos as well as the more contemporary approaches of the master tattooist. In Japan, Irezumi is - in people's minds - always associated with crime.
