Oscillating between fantasy and reality, Noémie Goudal's images explore both real and fictional geography, creating ephemeral spaces that question the nature of the image and its representational qualities. Her work draws from the complex symbiotic relationship between humans and nature, between the artificial and the organic. The series Stations continues to explore these subjects, focusing on human perception of the sky as influenced by projecting representational interpretations. The images blend together her references to mythology, legends, religious symbolism and scientific theory. Basing off of the symbolic spherical shape in reference to infinity and perfection, Goudal constructs her installations out of paper, wood and mirrors. Suspended in the sky, shot from high viewpoints or in isolated locations, these objects question our perception of the intangible nature of the infinite sky. Publisher's statement

Oscillating between reality and invention, Noémie Goudal's images explore real and fictional geographies by creating ephemeral spaces that question the image, its representation and its possibilities. Her work is nourished by the complex relationship between man and nature, between the artificial and the organic. The Stations series is part of the continuity of these questions on the perception that humans have of the sky and the representations that they project onto it. These images closely combine research on myths, legends, religious symbols and scientific theories. Using the spherical shape as a starting point, a symbol of perfection and infinity, Noémie Goudal constructs installations made of materials such as paper, mirror, wood. Suspended in the sky, overlooking high viewpoints or in isolated places, the structures tend to question our perception of the intangible nature of the celestial vault. Publisher's text
