During the 2020 pandemic, unable to travel, Koji Onaka turned his attention to the past.

Instead of traveling to other countries and regions, Japanese photographer Koji Onaka decided to travel back in time. He stayed in his darkroom and hand-printed photographs taken while traveling throughout Japan over 20 years ago. Although the color negatives had already begun to fade, the mysterious new color tones proved a blessing rather than a detriment. Regarding subject matter, Onaka focuses on mundane views whose inherent beauty is revealed through framing, arrangement, and subtle color tones.
